here i am again
Today has been a very organised day: up at 7:30, shower with Jim and kiss him goodbye, email and tea and toast (with maple butter) in the morning, an hour of Perl, a small amount of math (I might be taking calculus this fall and I need to remind myself how to do algebra first), some attempts at writing fiction, a walk (which was very nice), then lunch. After that it dissolved somewhat; there was half of The Case Files of Young Kindaichi, which is a Japanese series (live, not anime) which, uh, appears to be based on an anime. Or manga. Or something. Anyway, it /feels/ like anime, what with our hero the everyday guy, Nanase his schoolmate whom he'll clearly end up with by the end of the series but right now they just argue a lot, Reika the teen idol who has a crush on him, and so forth. It's subtitled, which is convenient, since my Japanese skills are not yet up to watching unsubtitled murder mysteries with lots of cheesy stuff about tarot cards. The W.H. Lewis diaries are definitely to blame for taking the walk, although not I think for enjoying it. I saw two mimosa trees, which I associate with childhood but wonder of wonders they're a pleasant thing anyway. They smell very distinctively sweet and warm. There was also a magnolia, a really good big one that I thought about climbing, but it was too public, and I am extremely self-conscious at times. I stopped to smell lots of roses, though, and random other flowers which were near to the sidewalk. All in all very nice, but awfully hot; taking my walk at noon seems to lead to problems like that. Now I think I'm going to go flop on the couch and read until Jim arrives, as he'll do in the very near future, and then see what he wants to do about dinner. I'm hungry for fried chicken, but I really shouldn't be spending money on food when there's so much already in the house. |
