practical matters
As it turns out, I don't have any ground beef, so I can't make goulash after all. What I have instead is stew meat, which I took down, and will be trying to turn into vindaloo tonight, assuming Jim's vindaloo sauce packet hasn't gone bad. If it has I'm not sure what I'll do with the stew meat. I have some 'Thai sauce in a jar' (I can't remember if it's panang or musuman, but I think the former), but Jim doesn't like coconut milk, which is a key component in random Thai sauces. So there might be wild experimenting tonight, which would be all right with me. I also discovered what one does with Swiss chard -- among other things, one turns it into a pesto-like pasta sauce! I want to try that, even though I'm not sure if I'll like to eat it. I do wish I hadn't gotten the chard for another week, though -- I could make a batch while the chard is fresh and then save it until it sounds good, but then I'd need to use it up before I clean my kitchen for Pesach. Decisions, decisions. And then there are all the lemons. Although I am firmly resolved not to romance the library in quite so unrestrained a fashion as previously, I do plan to go by there today -- some of my books are due, and it has been quite a while (at least three weeks! I think.) since I've been there last. So it won't hurt to just check out a few things -- will it? I guess I'll see. I know I can be restrained if I really try. |
