Molasses Day

A laggy day so far today, but that means I've gotten a lot of work done. Not exciting work, but good foundation stuff that needs to happen, and it's really good to be able to get it all done and done solidly.

I talked to Liralen some about the things people let into their lives; it was on my mind from a conversation Keely and I had during her visit. Keely and I talked about playing the evil side in CRPGs, like Might & Magic VII, and the various reasons why we don't. Hers was a belief in pattersn of thought, that if you let yourself think a certain way you might find it spreading. My reasons were similar; I think that the things you let in, even in fun, can be very hard to get rid of again once you're bored with them. Pretend to be heartless long enough and it becomes a reflex. Let in enough numbness to pain online and you forget how to react to pain in the rest of the world. It can be done, and done for good reason, but I don't think you can just assume that you're inviolate. Precautions should be taken.

Jim says my books from Amazon are here! I ordered Peking Opera Blues on DVD, and an interesting looking book on software construction which I hope will be as good as the reviews on Amazon seemed to indicate.

Time flies. Well, it does when you're lagged. I run away home, hoping flick's net will be happier tomorrow.
