Incarnadine

I am having one of those days where I do not approve of being in a body. Moreover, my body doesn't seem to approve of being stuck with me. Despite waking up to the cheerful 80's sounds of A-ha doing Take on Me -- a song I am insanely fond of mostly due to the video -- I had an awful time getting out of bed. I spent a very long time lying around feeling sick, then finally crawled into the shower, and am now at work. I've eaten a lovely pear and drank some of this strawberry-banana thing, and expect to be back on speaking terms with my body by the time I leave work.

I've been reading Rosemary Edgehill's Bast mysteries. I read Speak Daggers to Her yesterday and finished The Bowl of Night today. They're not very mysterious -- I can figure out the thrust of the plot pretty much immediately. But I enjoy her writing, and the neo-pagan fringe culture is interesting, so I'm not unhappy to have read them. Rumour has it that she may be doing another one. I hope so.

Chuck is moving down here. I'm not sure precisely what tipped the scales, but I've a strong suspicion that OryCon helped. I met hid mudding, two years ago, and then in person about twenty months ago. When I visited Corvallis (twice) to see squids I stayed at Chuck's apartment. Now he's moving down here, and I'm in a two-bedroom for no good reason, so starting tomorrow night he'll be sharing it with me. I'll have a housemate again, after eighteen months without.

It'll be brief, of course. I am still moving to LA. But it'll be nice to have a housemate for the last two months, especially one who is sweet, funny, intelligent, and promises to pay rent in housework and laundry and cooking. When I described him to Jim&Czr they said rather plaintively, "Hey, we've got a spare room...". Not only am I getting a great deal, but my friends know it.

Earl and I are going to Oklahoma tomorrow afternoon for Thanksgiving with my father, step-mom, sister & brother-in-law. It should be quite interesting; he met them all in Chicago for my sister's wedding, but that wasn't really a typical example of my family in action. This coming weekend should be much more usual. And amusing -- my stepmom has already stated her firm intention to take 'the girls' shopping while 'the guys' watch football. Can you imagine Earl watching football? Neither can I.

Anyway, I'll be gone until late Sunday night. Don't expect another entry until December, unless I'm feeling really inspired over the weekend. I plan to spend a lot of time eating, sleeping, and reading -- not necessarily in that order. It should be fun.
