At work again, jiggety jig. I found last week's bug in a few more places, fixed it, and checked it in. Now I'm trying to figure out just what happens to email addresses when members leave the service. Something funky that shouldn't really be happening, that's for sure. Yikes. Chris just stuck his head over the wall of my cube and invited me to go to a bug meeting, since I'm working on bugs. Sugoi! I go now. |
the bug database is unforgiving of afterthought

Back from the bug meeting! It was actually pretty entertaining, as it mostly involved Simeon flipping through bugs really fast and everyone in the room making snide comments. I was quiet except for giggling. Afterwards Chris promised me that once I'm in the bug database, I too will have my moments of (snide) glory. All I need is for our prodigal sysadmin to bring me a hub so I can plug my laptop in, as the bug database is a FileMaker Pro thing. There are also rumours that a PC card of some sort will be installed into the nice Ultra10 sitting on my desk, but that seems even longer-term than getting the hub for my laptop. I like my job more and more every day. It's weird, to be in this giddy honeymoon phase after having gotten so cynical and exhausted at my last job. Being around people who are passionate about their work is exciting, and even when that passion manifests itself as annoyed ranting (as I heard Simeon doing when I got in this morning) I just feel fond. I know this won't last; eventually I'll have enough invested that instead of merely marvelling at the excitement I'll be in the middle of it. But it's nice to be here, now, and to look forward to being more involved without needing to hurry it. Boy, that was abstract. Oh, well. I'll eat another balance bar (we're running a little low on snack food I like in the kitchen, but the chocolate & chocolate almond balance bars are pretty darn good), and go back to pondering the mysteries of email verification. |
