when the world is far apart
we listen for voices in our hearts
then touch

Happily, my creative/energetic phase hasn't yet gone away. On the contrary, I am busily overplanning my life to an insane extent, knowing that over the next few weeks I'll be able to winnow down all the things I'm thinking of doing into a few that I can actually accomplish.

Things on the potential list:

  • Classes: I need to start the Calculus cycle at some point. I would like to be taking Japanese. I'm tempted to take a writing class or an art class. Plus, while checking out the possibility of taking Calc online (probably a bad idea) I noticed that Foothill is offering a Gay & Lesbian Literature class online. Tempting, tempting. I think I can do one (and only one) of these things.
  • BAMM: I talked to the director of BAMM about joining their board back in March, and it's starting to sound like it might actually become reality as of September. That would be one Tuesday a month, in Oakland.
  • Music: I miss singing; I was in choirs through most of high school and really enjoyed them. There's a free choir I was planning on joining this fall which meets once a week. Unfortunately, they meet on Tuesdays, which doesn't really work well with the BAMM board; I don't feel like I can in fairness skip one choir session a month. I'm sort of hoping that BAMM will decide to move their board meetings but in reality that's not so likely.
  • Anime! I like watching anime. I like showing other people anime. Both of these take time.
  • Gaming: There is AHS (Chrisber's Amber game) about once a month, maybe once every three weeks, in theory at least. There is FLTD (Neil's ongoing live-action game) about every six weeks. There is D&D every Thursday. All of this is currently managable, but might not be when I start adding things to my schedule.
  • Creative endeavours: Many of these sort of fall under other categories, in that writing and art might be channelled into writing or art classes, and manga translating (somewhat creative) would definitely be helped by taking Japanese classes. Plus I'm planning to do some personal writing for FLTD. Nonetheless, there's enough interest in trying to write and/or draw more that this deserves to be a category of its own.
  • Domesticity: I have a house that I love, and it has a garden which I'm also pretty fond of. It would be nice to be doing more cooking and more work in the garden, and to keep the house cleaner and get things more unpacked, and to go through through all the stuff I have sitting around that needs going through, like old tapes and papers and stuff.

That's a good list, although the entire whirl of things I'd like to be doing looks a little cold written all out like that. Still, it's good to see it all in one place and realise that I'm going to have to make some real choices if I want to have fun and spend enough time with Jim.

It's interesting to me that this always seems to come up right before fall starts. I guess all those years of school wired it into my brain that fall is the time to start new things. Sort of convenient, since Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish new year) is in the fall also, so I'm doubly encouraged to do this sort of thing.

This doesn't feel like much of an entry, somehow, but I suppose it will do.
