surrounded by strangeness

It's been a busy day so far, although compared to everything I had scheduled for yesterday it's not so bad. The spec Allen was supposed to write me for my new mini-project still hasn't appeared, but with only thirty minutes left before I go to Japanese I'm not going to fret overmuch about it. Tomorrow morning there's a meeting to go over the new framework Yan has written, which should be interesting, and may inspire me to crawl out of bed earlier than I otherwise would.

I've been feeling pretty lazy lately, so during the weekend I dug out my Playstation and after some confusion got myself set up to play Suikoden, which Kirby learned me ages ago. It's a relatively old game -- I'm guessing 1996 -- and the graphics are awfully primitive in comparison to the Final Fantasy series, which is pretty much my entire playstation experience up to this point. In a way they remind me of the old Ultima games, although I suspect that if I did a side-by-side comparison I wouldn't see a lot of resemblance. Anyway, Suikoden is a great game to play while I'm feeling lazy; so far it's pretty straightforward plot-wise, but with enough hints of something more to hold my interest.

Joe Decker and I had lunch, which was nice, even though I drank too much fizzy orange juice. We almost entirely talked about BAMM; he graduated from the men's class a few weeks back, and I had the privilege of going to his graduation and even getting a fight myself! It rocked so much, and was also just really interesting; a circle full of connected emotionally-engaged men is just different than a circle full of connected emotionally engaged women. It was so cool to be a part of that, however briefly. And also very cool to have the chance to talk with him about it; there aren't a lot of people I can have conversations like that with.

Work continues fairly bizarre. I'm trying not to think about it.
