the best soy latte you ever had
and me
Yesterday was my dad's birthday. Happy birthday! I know he doesn't read this, but I like saying it, anyway. My dad is a really sweet and cool guy. Jim & I are going to go visit my parents in about 10 days, and I'm really looking forward to it. It's amazing how even without a job I can definitely use a vacation. In job news, Stanford emailed me to say that they'd like to interview me, but couldn't possibly hire me until the end of July, so would I please let them know if I'm still interested? Which I am, of course, and will email them sometime soon to tell them. Right this second I'm still far too hyper from the mail to write coherent professional-sounding sentences, and sending email saying, "Yes yes yes please hire me!" doesn't seem like the best idea. Today was not as organised of a day as I might have liked, due to a lot of early-morning sleepiness. Once I managed to overcome that, though, I finished a book, had a nice hot shower (including washing my hair which takes forever due to it being almost down to my waist and still very purple), started some laundry, had breakfast (toasted challah with honey and kiwi-pear green tea), and settled down with Learning Perl in the hopes of having something to add to my resume by the end of the next ten days or so. Several hours later I emerged, tired but victorious, having worked through all 31 pages of the first chapter. I had entertained hopes of doing the second chapter today, too, but it is definitely not to be. In between bits of Perl I talked online with Marith & Teresa some (separately but simultaneously) about random stuff, and caught up a bit on my email (I'm permanently behind), and FLTD geeked with Czr, whom I've sucked into TooMUSH so that he can hang out on the FLTD channel and hear people being random. The TiVo is mysteriously broken; somehow it's having a difficulty finding certain channels. Perhaps Jim will be able to fix it; I must inquire of him once he gets home. |
