an experiment in lunch
I decided to give this 'being social with coworkers thing' that I'm so bad at a try, and so went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch with Agila, David, Yan, Chris, and Julie. It was nice, both the walking to and from the restaurant (lots of freshly mown grass to enjoy the smell of), and the company, and even the food. Fresh vegetables, yum. They also had an interesting pecan oil with hot peppers in it to use as a salad dressing base, which was very flavourful and complex. I'm thinking that I might try making some of my own -- not sure if you need to roast the peppers first, though. Now it's after lunch and I'm incredibly full, although hopefully not too full for dinner at Straits tonight, which Chris* are giving as a reward for helping them move. I'm very much looking forward to it; good food, good company, and (best of all) I didn't have to organise any of it. All I have to do is show up! It should be fun. And afterwards I'll go home and dissolve onto the couch next to Jim, to watch random VH1 music documentaries, read a bit, and collapse into much-needed sleep. |
