Sorry for the delay. I was indeed sick, and ended up staying home from
work both Thursday and Friday. Let me, then, catch you up on my
week.
Tuesday night I went directly to Jim&Czr's (aka
Room16) from work, and played The Evil Game (Heroes of Might and Magic
II, if you must know) until they got home. We sat around talking for a
very short while, only to be phoned by Jeremy, who said that Rachel
wanted dinner and he wanted the Florentine, so would people like to
meet them there? We would, so we did, and had a highly silly dinner.
Rachel gave me cold medication, and we smiled drowsily at each other
over our food. Conversation was somewhat limited due to the extreme
tiredness going around the table, but all in all it was a nice meal.
Afterwards we went to Border's, at which point my cold medicine hit. I
spent a lot of time sitting on the floor in the history section, making
very slow conversation and staring a lot. Eventually we went back to
Jim&Czr's, where Jeremy picked up a book he was borrowing and I played
The Evil Game until I fell over.
Wednesday night I went to class, took notes, picked up
my midterm (take-home, open book, open notes, no time limit), and then
went home. I'd been supposed to go to Gretchen's and pick over her old
clothing, but I was sicker by this point, and wanted nothing more than
to curl up at Marith's and play CivII (yes, I get game-obsessive when I
don't feel well, and sometimes even when I do). Instead I somehow
found myself going to sushi, which seemed like a good idea at the time
but quickly stressed me out much more than was worthwhile. By the time
we got home I was dead tired, but I played CivII for a while anyway,
then crawled home to phone Earl. This cheered me up some, but he was
somewhat stressed, so once off the phone with him I called over to
Room16 and talked to Czr for a while, then Jim for a while. Finally I
slept.
Thursday I did a lot of sleeping, then phoned my mom.
After several hours of pleasant catching-up I took a shower, got
dressed, and went to Room16 to play TEG some more. Jim got home from
work about 5ish and took a nap, then woke up right in time for us to
carpool to gaming -- stopping at Lee's on the way so that I could pick
up several weeks worth of back comics. Gaming itself was amusing,
although Czr was late due to work, so we got started slow. Rachel was
sick, so she spent the evening curled up reading Polgara the
Sorcereress. I worked on Shadows of Sanctuary (the
third Thieves' World novel) and admired the typography books I needed
to take back from the library. There were brownies.
Friday was more sleeping. Lots more sleeping.
Eventually I made it to the airport and onto an airplane, which flew me
to Los Angeles so I could spend the weekend with Earl. You can hear
about that tomorrow.
