Spirits Drifting

I've yet again left Music for Airports at home. Grr.

Work continues apace. My hands are freezing, and I'm very spacey, but I'm writing lots of code. My thing needs to be done by Friday, and I may actually make that dealine -- especially if I can finish this section today. That'd leave me three sections and two days in which to do them, which is plausible if severely painful. At least I got to bug-fix yesterday.

Jim and I put together four IKEA bookcases over the weekend -- two of mine, two of his. Many (but not all) of my sf books are now out in the living room, where they may be admired by visitors. Jim put all of his shelves very close together to form CD-size spaces, and moved his CDs from the haphazard piles in our bedroom to the new shelves. It looks nice. I like having my books out; they're meant to be on shelves, not cooped up in stuffy boxes for months on end.

Of course, a lot of my books _are_ cooped up in stuffy boxes, still. I need to put together the remaining bookcase tonight or tomorrow, so I can get the rest of my sf out and thus clean up my room (theoretically my bedroom, but Jim & I share a bedroom, so I guess it's just my room -- maybe it's my study or my office or something?) more, and someday set up the table in there and have workspace. That would be lovely. Plus I just have a general geek need to organise and inventory all my sf before November, when I go to OryCon and thus again to Powell's.

Books are great sources of happiness.

As noted above, my mom arrives this weekend for a ten-day visit. I'm slightly nervous, but also excited. We're (myself, my mom, Jim) going to Jenner (no, not the former King of Chaos, as I'm sure all you Amber people were thinking), which is about two hours north of San Francisco, along the coast. We've got reservations for Saturday & Sunday night at a keen-looking place called River's End, which according to various web reviews has an amazing view and wonderful food. I'll report on these details next Tuesday.

Other planned activities include Point Reyes national seashore and a tour of the Korbel champagne place.

Yet again I've picked two CDs and am listening to them endlessly throughout the day. Right now it's the new Eno CD, alternating with a random Tangerine Dream album.

I note the time. Almost 7. If I leave right now I won't have finished this section, but I'll have time to eat and watch Buffy. Decisions, decisions. I think I'll leave. Maybe I can work from home.
