Sleep is Good

John had an 8 a.m. meeting and after all the sleep deprivation of the last weekend, there wasn't any way I was going to be able to get up early enough for that, so he left me asleep after adjusting the alarm for me. The alarm went off, but I hit snooze on reflex. By the time I actually woke up, got myself together and out the door, I had *just* enough time to get to work. A few miles from home I realized that I didn't have my badge, and there wasn't going to be any way for me to get into work without it.

So I went back for it.

So I was late for my 9 a.m. meeting. Steve was actually trying to call me by the time I actually slipped into the meeting. The one bug that I'd been asked to investigate turned out to something I had no idea how to deal with, so I just couldn't really do anything about it other than do a really nasty set of tests. The only other problem was that I was assigned four other bugs that I had to get finished before next Tuesday, and the overall priority was to fix bugs first. All but one of the bugs had been previously assigned.

There was also a meeting in the afternoon about things we should be doing for the first service packs. There are always things that can be improved, and it was more fun to think at the high level again. Finally, I also had to review all the documentation about the application I worked most on. The actual deadline had been last week, but we still had time and technical publications gang reminded us of our duties. So I plowed through everything I could get through, but only finished half before it was 7 p.m. and time to go home.

I was so exhausted that I asked John to make dinner. After biking he did so without complaint, and I crashed immediately after. I think I'm still in sleep debt.
